Blurb One:
A new leader was parachuted into the Fengcheng Public Security Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division.
The guys: "Captain, the new leader has a huge presence. Watch out, he might throw his weight around."
Ye Lan: "...Even without a big title, he's been throwing his weight around with me for years."
Blurb Two:
Leonardo da Vinci painted The Last Supper based on the story in the Bible of Jesus sharing his final meal with the twelve disciples.
A series of murders has recently taken place in Fengcheng.
Each victim received a dinner, and was killed after finishing it.
Their expressions and poses at the time of death resembled those of the disciples in da Vinci's The Last Supper,
so the Criminal Investigation Division named the case "The Last Supper."
Gu Xu, a food enthusiast, compiled the menus each victim had received: "Jade White Lotus," "Fish in Prison," "Dragon's Whiskers," "Gold in the Snow," "Spring Dumplings," "Red-Crisp Hands"...
He realized that the dishes the victims received concealed the ways they would die, and made up his mind:
"I'll make the dishes according to the recipes, eat them, find the killer, and make him eat prison food."
Bonus scene:
To welcome their new leader, the division planned to treat him to a welcome dinner.
Ye Lan, the deputy captain, went to ask what the new leader wanted to eat.
Ye Lan: "Just tell me what you're in the mood for. It's on me."
Gu Xu smiled. "You."
Ye Lan: "...Pick something else."
Gu Xu raised an eyebrow. "Then will you eat me?"
Ye Lan: "Can you be serious for once?"
Gu Xu: "I am serious. Tell me honestly, do you want to eat me?"
Ye Lan: "...No."
Gu Xu narrowed his eyes. "Don't lie in front of a microexpression expert. Every little expression gives you away."
Ye Lan frowned. "Then what do you see?"
Gu Xu chuckled. "You really like me."
Ye Lan: "..."
Gu Xu: "I agree."
