[Soviet Union] Singing of a Turbulent Youth

Cheerful piano music drifted through the hall, and the chandelier bathed it in warm yellow light. Some students were dancing, some chatting, some sampling delicious food, and others admiring the scenery. "Valia, what do you want to do in the future?" "I've decided to enlist." "... Your grades are excellent. The teacher often says you could continue studying physics." "Afva, I think enlisting would let me do more to defend our country. Besides, after I retire from the military, I can continue my studies, can't I?" "That's true. You always stick to your decisions." "What about you, Afva?" "Me? I want to become a doctor. I hope I can save more lives with my own hands." "Ha, no matter what, I believe we have a bright future ahead." "I think so, too." The graduation party was deliberately scheduled for June 21, the summer solstice. The day was long and the night short, so the students could celebrate to their hearts' content. The band fell silent. A new day awaited the tenth-grade graduates. *Male lead: Valery Gennadievich Kolasen Female lead: Avfrola Kasiyanovna Oktyabrskaya **A childhood friends story. It will probably focus on the romance and the growing pains of a young man and woman, with no misunderstandings or melodrama. ***I'll do my best to write the romance, though it's not my strong suit. I promise their relationship will be sweet. Theme: The brightest future
