Original title: The Poor Scholar's Guide to Officialdom
# A graduate student in history transmigrates to ancient times, slowly raises his family's standing through the imperial examinations, and ultimately becomes a powerful minister of his generation. #
[Imperial Exams + Food]
Xie Xingjian was born into the Xie family of Linshui Village as the second son of Xie Lao'er.
Right after he was born, his grandfather, a licentiate, decided to split up the family for the sake of his descendants' future prospects.
His father wasn't the eldest son, so he received a pitifully small share of the family property.
If he wanted a promising future, to rise smoothly through the ranks, and to lead his family into a comfortable life, the only way was through the imperial examinations.
Licentiate! Presented scholar! Provincial graduate! Palace graduate! He would earn every degree.
When the new emperor ascended the throne and held an additional round of examinations, Xie Xingjian passed the licentiate exam and took an unconventional route to a career in government.
He would return home in ceremonial robes, and he would enter the Three Departments and Six Ministries to become one of the Nine Ministers.
But the hardships of officialdom were too many to speak of, and he gritted his teeth and endured them all.
Along the way, he truly felt how difficult it was to enter government through the examinations, let alone rise in rank and grow rich.
The heroine, nearly forgotten: [raises a hand] Husband, focus on your career. I'll make delicious food at home and wait for you!
PS:
1. This is an alternate history with a mixed system, including original inventions and fictional elements. Please don't assume it matches any real dynasty.
The novel includes educational information about the imperial examinations and related topics. Sources from ancient texts and online encyclopedias are noted; anything inadvertently missed will be added in the author's notes later. (Heart)
2. There is a heroine, one-on-one romance, and she appears a little late.
3. Some farming in the early chapters, followed by a gradual rise through the ranks.
4. Please enjoy the story peacefully.

[Cheat-powered hoarder Hua Shi × genuinely green-tea, falsely upright little scholar and ex-husband]
Hua Zhao has a secret courtyard in a pocket dimension.
Spring lasts all year inside the courtyard. Beyond it is an endless expanse of white fog and constant rain.
One day, as Hua Zhao hurried back and forth, stowing food in the pocket dimension, someone suddenly knocked on the courtyard gate.
"Is anyone there? Could you let this humble scholar in to shelter from the rain?"
The man's voice was gentle and refined, like the sound of jade.
But hearing it only made Hua Zhao's heart ache.
She knew the man outside her pocket dimension all too well.
In her previous life, she was kindhearted and easily bullied. She spent her own silver supporting the poor scholar Mu Lianzhou through the imperial examinations and into government service, only to receive a personally written divorce letter in the end.
"The righteous are often rough men, while the faithless are usually scholars." The old saying had not lied to her.
-
"Nobody's here! Nobody, nobody!"
Hua Zhao yelled viciously from inside the courtyard. She would never again be foolish enough to let this ungrateful wolf in.
Outside, Mu Lianzhou, soaked to the skin: "..."
Little liar, I heard you talking.
There's also a blurb from the male lead's perspective. Visit my author column to read it~
Theme: Pass the highest imperial exam and make a name for yourself
The plot doesn't drag out and the pace is good. I read it carefully.
The last chapter of the modern extra chapter is a bit weird, and the style is not very consistent with the previous chapters, but it can be considered a perfect ending.
I really like the little scholar hehe
This family is not very lucky to have a wife... They don't have a right mind.
Hahahahahahaha I was laughing so hard
Sprinkle flowers. Spread flowers. They look good.
Hahahahahahaha
I like the female goose to spread flowers and spread flowers.
Hahahahahahaha
I actually didn't remember it and cried.
I watched it with high expectations, but I was very disappointed until the end. Maybe the subject matter was my favorite, but the writing style was not.
