Earth's temperatures kept rising. The polar ice caps melted, and rising sea levels swallowed many cities. Human habitats shrank dramatically, becoming isolated islands. Private boats became common transportation in remote areas, and building docks became an essential need for communities large and small.

Tang Ying is a dock construction engineer who travels from place to place with her project team. After an accident, her outlook suddenly changes. She decides she wants to pass on her genes on Earth and begins looking for a co-parent. Her useless teammates eagerly recommend blind dates for the older, single engineer and post matchmaking notices far and wide.

It all begins when, at just the right time, she meets someone special. Yu Ran appears.

Tang Ying accidentally discovers that Yu Ran is a lung-modified aquahuman, and then learns that Yu Ran has a deeper secret.

Engineer Tang says it's time for this engineer to settle down.
