Vampires have been extinct for over twenty years, and the entire Blood Hunter Association is so broke it's practically down to its underwear. Paychecks have been suspended. As the last person to earn a Hunter license, Gan Xin graduated straight into unemployment. She tried changing careers, working as a chef, becoming an online celebrity, cleaning houses, and taking the civil service exam... but failed at all of them.
The day before her rent was due, when she was about to sleep on a park bench, Gan Xin finally got a new job through an employment agency.
She was to be the butler for a wealthy man obsessed with vampire cosplay.
Food, drink, and a place to sleep were all provided (she even had to make the bed inside his coffin). Her job was to keep His Vampiric Highness well-fed and safe from online scams. On top of that, she had to play pretend with her employer, who was so obsessed with playing a vampire that he'd nearly lost his mind.
She decided to play the part of a Blood Hunter, sent on a mission to infiltrate the manor of the Vampire Progenitor. She happily played through all kinds of scenarios with her employer, and sometimes the two of them even acted out captivity scenes.
Her employer had even sharpened his teeth to play a vampire.
Given how seriously her employer took it, Gan Xin felt she ought to put in a little more effort too. Blood Hunters had been unemployed for ages, so using silver bullets as props shouldn't be a problem, right?
But could someone please explain why her employer had suddenly turned into a bat and flown away?!!!
Trending on Zhihu: What's it like being the butler of a thousand-year-old vampire?
Thanks for the invite. I'm at the vampire manor, just finished organizing a wedding.
This job is a hassle, but it's still pretty worthwhile. Especially since my employer, while not the sharpest tool in the shed and a rather dangerous species, is incredibly handsome.
Incredibly, incredibly handsome.
By the way, vampires don't have all those terrifying, fantastical superpowers people imagine. But in certain areas, my employer really is very capable. Ahem.
All right, it's time to cut the wedding cake, so I'm signing off. Anonymous, please. I've got a reputation to protect.

Her phone was taken away, and a cake knife was placed in her hand.
An employer who was over a thousand years old gently took the butler's wrist.
"It's time to cut the cake, my bride."
The male lead is a vampire who's been asleep for over a hundred years, so he's a little out of touch.
The heroine is a Blood Hunter who was trained from childhood but has never seen a living vampire. She's internet-addicted and goes from a goofball to a social elite (on the surface).
No angst. A silly, sweet little story.
