The Story of Amakusa

It is said that in 1636, the skies above Edo and Amakusa were often stained a terrifying blood red.

Twenty-five years earlier, Father Marcus had made this prophecy:

“Twenty-five years from now, a beautiful young man will appear, speaking of all manner of things never heard before and revealing the signs of God... White flags will flutter in the wilderness, and crosses will be scattered everywhere... Fiery clouds will blanket the sky, and the trees and grass of the mountains will be reduced to ashes. Only those who believe in God will be saved.”

Now Amakusa could do nothing but wait for a “miracle.”
