My new novel, The Pretty Young Wife in the Sixties Courtyard, is now underway. XOXO
[A sweet, sickly beauty with a gentle temper who grows stronger over time & a doting husband who is strong, ambitious, and direct]
Zhou Bai had a dream before her blind date with Xu Chunlin.
In the dream, she was quite pleased with the handsome and prosperous Xu Chunlin. She married him after his first marriage and became stepmother to his two children.
After the wedding, she treated her stepson sincerely and honored her parents-in-law, yet they told everyone she was a vixen reincarnated, a poisonous stepmother. She spent her whole life as a drudge in the Xu household, and only before she died of exhaustion did they give her a single acknowledgment: "Auntie Zhou had it tough, too."
When she woke, her sister-in-law was eagerly trying to find her a match, hoping to drive her out of the house. Zhou Bai rolled her eyes and ignored her.
While Zhou Bai was looking for a match herself, she somehow ended up alone with Jiang Xiguan, the village's lame old bachelor. Her best friend brought people along and caught them red-handed.
Seeing Wang Fangfang acting like she'd caught them in an affair, Zhou Bai was confused. It wasn't until Wang Fangfang married Xu Chunlin that Zhou Bai realized she wasn't the only one who knew the plot.
Wang Fangfang looked so delighted to marry Xu Chunlin. Zhou Bai couldn't help laughing whenever she thought about it. If Wang Fangfang wanted such a bargain-basement deal, she should have said so earlier. Zhou Bai would gladly have let her have him.
Zhou Bai was truly grateful to Wang Fangfang. Not only had she sacrificed herself for someone else, she had also picked Zhou Bai a good husband.
Following Jiang Xi, Zhou Bai moved to the city, found a job, and made good money. Jiang Xi's family was also easier to get along with than the mean old Mrs. Xu. It was only after marrying Jiang Xi that Zhou Bai learned what it meant to live well.
With a considerate husband, tolerant parents-in-law, and promising children, Zhou Bai lived a better life than ever. Wang Fangfang, whose life was full of disappointments, spent the rest of hers envying her.
P.S. 1. The male lead injured his leg on the battlefield. When he first returned to the village, he limped a little, but had recovered by the time he married the female lead.
2. The female lead is twenty, and the male lead is twenty-five.
3. No need to tell me if you drop the novel. My respects. Comments insulting the female lead will be deleted.
Completed period novels in my collection: The Spicy Beauty of the Seventies, Reborn in the Seventies with a Space, and The Cannon Fodder's Sweet Rebirth in the Seventies.
The Pretty Young Wife in the Sixties Courtyard is currently updating.
Blurb: The gorgeous village beauty Xing Fang had just married into a wealthy family and was feeling delighted when a book titled Xiao Fang fell from the sky.
In the book, she was the female lead, and her life was absolutely miserable. Before marriage, her adoptive mother treated her like livestock and only wanted to sell her for a bride price. After marriage, her mother-in-law called her a vixen and tormented her in every way. Her husband and children broke her heart, too. She worked herself to death for them, yet they wouldn't even buy her a grave plot.
Xing Fang: What the heck is this?!
To avoid becoming the short-lived, luckless Xiao Fang in the book, Xing Fang hurried to the machinery factory and called off her engagement.
Whoever wants that deadly "rich husband" can have him. Xing Fang certainly doesn't want him anymore.
After giving the scumbag a thorough dressing-down, Xing Fang hadn't even left his house when his mother's sworn enemy grabbed her hand, refused to let her go, and insisted she become her daughter-in-law.
Xing Fang: Huh?!
What kind of twisted fate is this? Song Wencheng's stepmother has taken a liking to her and wants her to marry Song Wencheng?!
Song Wencheng was the hapless male side character in the book, another classic example of a good person dying young. First his stepmother caused him to leave the military with a limp, and he never married. Later, Xing Fang schemed to make him her son's godfather. The little brat repaid his kindness with betrayal, leaving his two adopted daughters one dead and one injured, and him spending his twilight years in misery.
Well... maybe agreeing wouldn't be so bad? They actually seem pretty well suited...
Taking the lessons of Xiao Fang to heart, after the wedding Xing Fang sweet-talked her wicked mother-in-law and her husband while actively building her career. A housewife whose only job is having children has the worst life. Xing Fang won't be a fool this time around.
They're both female leads. Why should Xing Fang be stuck in a tragic romance? She can make a fine female lead in a sweet romance.
*
The first time Song Wencheng met Xing Fang, he thought she was one of his stepmother's traps. Perhaps he was tired, because he didn't put up a fight and chose to make do with Xing Fang as his wife.
He thought treating each other with respect would be the best they could hope for. He never expected to lose control after they married, and find his old heart catching fire again.
*
Song Wencheng was cold and stern, with no romantic sensibility. Qian Xiaoyan was infamous for causing trouble wherever she went. Everyone knew that marrying into the Song family would be hard on Xing Fang. Her ex, the scumbag who had been dumped, waited for Xing Fang to come crying back and beg him. But he waited and waited, until Xing Fang had her wicked mother-in-law eating out of her hand and Song Wencheng became the model husband of the compound.
The scumbag was so furious he nearly spat blood.
P.S. The children are adopted. Marriage first, love later. Ten-year age gap.
Theme: Self-respect and self-love
What zz stuff is so silly and sweet? Sure enough, rebirth doesn't increase your IQ. It's the reason why you were deceived.
Sure enough, the heroine's IQ is worrying, she's so obvious and secretive
Does the heroine have no mouth? Not to mention that there are useless sets?
You are stupid to begin with, can't you tell your mother exactly what happened? Can't you find someone to analyze it for you? Isn't it okay to talk to your mother when you feel wronged? The heroine is not naive, she is just plain stupid
This heroine is no good, she's so stupid
Is there something wrong with this heroine? She still believes in Wang Fangfang after everything is like this??
Progress is too slow. There are a lot of words and a lot of gold coins, but it seems that the real thing has not been solved. It would be better if it was simplified.
The heroine is really stupid...
A small opinion (it's really a small opinion article that's really good). There are too many long talks and dialogues. It's a bit tiring to read this long at once. I feel like it could be streamlined. When I read the dialogue between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, I was so out of breath that I couldn't win/palmed my face.
Why is there no one there? I thought someone was here to laugh with me.
