A rumor circulated among players of the full-dive game Stigmata: the place in Stigmata with the most hidden experts wasn't any of the epic dungeons, but the newbie village.
The village widow looked frail, but could casually pull out a stack of epic dungeon maps.
The village shepherd seemed utterly ordinary, but his shepherd's crook, used for herding sheep, was an artifact from beyond the current version of the game.
The village beggar looked destitute and too weak to swat a chicken, but to make a beauty smile, he'd produce one pure-gold rose after another. Every now and then, he'd even drag off a boss that had wiped out countless players, just to snack on it.
The village night watchman seemed perfectly ordinary and really was perfectly ordinary, but he was the "beauty" the beggar gave golden roses to.
Later, the players discovered that the destitute, helpless one was the Order faction's greatest hero, while the perfectly ordinary one was the legendary Demon King of the Chaos faction.
The two of them got together :D

"Stigmata: Creation Chapter begins"
"Expansion unlocked: The Fourth Epic Era"
"Endless game starting..."
"May disaster befall you"
"You go slay the evil dragons in this world. I'll slay the evil dragon in your heart."
"Whether you're remembered through the ages or reviled for all time, I'll walk beside you."
Reader's guide:
1. Not your typical fourth-catastrophe story. Pairing: scheming, ambitious, many-layered Demon King NPC as the bottom X wild, roguish Hero player as the top.
2. A collection of chuunibyou nonsense, with mountains of author-invented details and wildly unpredictable developments.
