Blurb:
Ruan Ning had secretly loved Zhou Yixu for eight years, from the age of seventeen to twenty-four.
But she had never dared hope for anything.
Then an accident left her blind, and Zhou Yixu suddenly appeared, asking her to become his wife under a marriage contract.
Two years, then they would go their separate ways.
Ruan Ning agreed almost without hesitation.
It wasn't just because she had loved him for years. She was also in trouble herself and needed someone to rescue her.
-
Married life was dull and uneventful, but Ruan Ning just smiled and let it pass. She always thought that if she had been lucky enough to marry him, perhaps it was a gift from fate, a sign that they were truly meant to be.
Because her feelings were sincere, she thought of him and left a light on for him every night, even though he rarely came home.
For his sake, she gritted her teeth and put up with other people sneering at her.
She even accepted... other women appearing by Zhou Yixu's side.
Without realizing it, her feelings gradually faded into nothing.
When Zhou Yixu accidentally smashed the trophy she treasured most and showed not the slightest remorse, she suddenly woke up.
She had been dreaming from the very beginning. Someone like Zhou Yixu wasn't worth loving.
Her feelings had all gone to the dogs.
-
But when the two-year term ended and Ruan Ning asked for a divorce, she never expected Zhou Yixu to refuse.
He said, “We've both gotten used to having each other around. We might as well keep living this way. Besides, your eyes aren't well...”
Ruan Ning sneered inwardly. For the first time, she took a very firm stance and demanded that Zhou Yixu agree to the divorce.
She might be blind, but she wasn't stupid!
The day she got her divorce papers, Ruan Ning smiled and said, “Zhou Yixu, I never got used to having you around. Every day of these past two years has been agony. But at least now I'm free.”
Zhou Yixu had never imagined that every day after Ruan Ning left would be agony for him, too.
A groveling-to-win-her-back story. The heroine's eyesight will recover.
