Liu Xiezhi

(The first four chapters of this novel were written in 2017.)

For a woman like Liu Xiezhi, love can be a raging storm or a slow, gentle stream.

She doesn't like roses in all their flamboyant glory, clinging to walls and climbing upward, using them to grow strong.

She loves the understated simplicity of bamboo swaying in the wind, with no tangled branches, and wants to live with dignity.

Yet her actions always go against the grain of that wind-swept bamboo. Then she met Li Jiayin. By instinct, she gravitated toward his capitalist airs, never realizing that she was pushing herself into a swamp. One glance, a love that lasted a lifetime, and from then on she was lost.

As for Li Jiayin, his love is like plum branches growing out of silent, unyielding iron. In weather that is cold before winter comes, they can burst into blossoms of steadfast resolve.

But what happens to bickering lovers if they can only be together for a fleeting moment? What will they do when dawn breaks?
