Drowning in a Beautiful Night

Blurb:

Half of Haicheng's high-end clubs belong to the Kong family. The organizers of all kinds of celebrity banquets beg Kong Zhi to attend, while Yan Qiao is just a delicate flower clinging to his powerful support.

He once spent a fortune on her at an auction, and once kissed her satin-black, red lips as they held each other close, but she never imagined he would marry her.

Because he had said keeping her by his side was only a temporary measure. Once he achieved his goal, he would let her go.

She knew his affection for her came from her impeccable sense of boundaries, but she still fell for him under his attentive tenderness.

On the day she was sent away, Yan Qiao carefully asked him if she wouldn't be able to call him anymore.

Kong Zhi nodded, pretending not to care.

That night, he canceled his engagements and drove aimlessly. Before he knew it, he had reached Yan Qiao's apartment building, where he sat in his car for two hours.

Just as he was about to leave, he spotted a familiar figure in the distance.

The slender young woman was carrying a Hermes bag, tottering along in a wobbly catwalk. Unable to hold it in, she threw up into the landscaping beside her, then made repeated little bows to the low shrubs, her face flushed.

Kong Zhi strode over with a dark expression, scooped her up, and carried her back.

That night, they slept together for the first time.

Just as he thought she would surely stay by his side, Yan Qiao left without a word and ran away behind his back.

After going to great lengths to find her, Kong Zhi discovered that Yan Qiao refused to own up to anything. She said, perfectly self-assured, "You said you'd let me go."

Kong Zhi gave a mocking laugh. "Yes, I did. But can't I change my mind?"

Yan Qiao looked at him and said softly, "You can, but I don't want to come back to you."
