The snow stopped, sunlight filtered through the leaves, and dappled light fell across my face. In that instant, I heard my own heartbeat, and the sound of the earth. I felt that the world contained only me, the mountains and forest, and the sun. That moment belonged to me alone, unique and irreplaceable.
Qian Erduo seemed to see that moment, too, standing there as that beam of light fell across his face. His blood was boiling. Those words had been meant for Yi Qi, but they found their way into Qian Erduo's heart, becoming a feeling of wonder frozen there forever, unique and irreplaceable.
