Fan Cheng

Blurb:

"After all these years apart, I'm glad we're still the same people we were back then."

Fan Cheng has had a bit of bad luck lately.

Nothing has gone right. Her research proposal still hasn't been approved, and she was even forced to join a volleyball tournament. Then someone stepped on her foot, and she fell and broke a bone. No one took responsibility, so they blamed her.

She took the person to the hospital and ran around handling everything.

Then she found out they needed to stay in the hospital for surgery.

It was a bit of a hassle, and as luck would have it, the attending doctor at the hospital turned out to be someone she knew.

Back then, she had even deleted the doctor's contact information herself, thinking they would never cross paths again. But nine years later, they met again. The doctor tapped the table. "Here's my contact information. Add me. Then I'll consider whether to help you. Thank you."

Fan Cheng: "..."

-

The first time Cheng Jue had her contact information deleted, she swore that if the other woman ever added her again, she would reject the request. She just hadn't expected the wait to last nine years.

Nine years later, when she saw a friend request from that unmistakable name, she stared at the reject button for days.

She just couldn't bring herself to tap it.

When she finally decided to accept, the verification message had expired.

"..." That stung.

Luckily, the other person sent another friend request, just like she had back then.

She accepted it immediately.

Then she deliberately asked, "You didn't add the wrong person this time, did you?"

"..."

Keep pretending.

Go on.
