The Cannon Fodder Who Didn't Survive Past Episode Two [Book Transmigration]

In the modern world, Xiao Bai is a fortune-teller on an overpass: a master and enlightened sage to his clients, but a swindler living off free meals in the eyes of their sons and daughters. Xiao Bai always feels awkward about it, but what can he do? It's the twenty-first century. Ghosts and gods don't exist! He just picked the wrong major in college and couldn't find a job, so he dug out some books his elders had secretly brought back from a Taoist temple years ago and used them to earn a little money. Who could have known someone would accuse him of being a fake Taoist priest who'd caused a death, then get so worked up that they shoved him off the overpass? Xiao Bai thinks he's been terribly wronged. Heaven knows, he never sold anyone talisman papers or told them to drink the ashes. All he did was serve up a little spiritual chicken soup, okay? Just when he thought he was done for, the hell? He realizes he's been reborn inside a novel he'd been reading to kill time, as a minor character who doesn't survive past the second episode... A background character among background characters, then! The fortune-telling swindler Xiao quickly accepts his new reality. But could someone tell him what the heck that girl in white is, walking straight through the wall in front of him?
