The Pampered Guest Is Hard to Soothe

A charming young lady arrived at Prince Jing's residence. Her features were as lovely as a painting, and she was utterly bewitching, yet timid by nature. The slightest disturbance startled her like a frightened bird.

Today, a needle pricked her finger, and tears welled in her limpid eyes.

Tomorrow, a spoiled young master gives her a scare, and she cries like a pear blossom in the rain.

Everyone at Prince Jing's residence pampers her without complaint. After all, she's the daughter of the man who saved the prince's life.

Only Pei Xingjian, the heir to the title, knows that the delicate beauty Yu Weiyin's frail, willowy manner is only an act. In truth, she has formidable inner strength and is a skilled martial artist.

Pei Xingjian: I'll just sit here and watch you act.

Later, the two are bound together by an engagement arranged when they were children.

On the day they become betrothed, Yu Weiyin hands him an agreement and says timidly, "Your Lordship is as handsome as Pan An and widely read. I'm afraid I'm not worthy of you."

Pei Xingjian smiles politely. "Miss Yu is a peerless beauty, gifted and brilliant. I'm the one who isn't worthy of you."

They reach an understanding: they'll part ways after a year.

The year is up. Yu Weiyin drops her act and hands him a divorce agreement without a trace of regret.

Pei Xingjian lowers his eyes and studies it for a long moment, then suppresses his anger, takes the agreement, and burns it to ashes.

He turns his gloomy gaze on her, a cold, cruel smile rising on his face. "We were doing just fine. Why would you suddenly want to abandon me after taking my heart? Haven't I treated you well, wife?"

Yu Weiyin: ???

What is going on now? What happened to our one-year agreement???
