After Moving to the City in the Seventies, I Broke Off My Engagement

An older brother whose fate is unknown, a mother who has passed away, a cruel sister-in-law, and a poor girl with nowhere to turn.

Qi Guo transmigrates into the body of a girl her sister-in-law is about to sell to a violent, foolish man. To escape being beaten to death, the girl takes her neighbor's advice and travels a thousand miles to another province for a match and marriage.

But that far-flung match turns out to be a scam, too. She can't stay in the city because of government policies, and she can't return to the countryside, where the fool is waiting to beat her.

What is Qi Guo to do when she's caught between a rock and a hard place?

She breaks free of the matchmaking scam, makes new friends, and meets someone who understands her. Little by little, in this unfamiliar era, Qi Guo finds her own happiness.
