A note from Qiaoqiao: Sheng Xia had to leave because his father was sick. He was young and naive, and thought he shouldn't make Hang Chuhan wait for him. That's why Sheng Xia left.

"How is Hang Chuhan... doing now?" This was the first time in nine years that Sheng Xia had dared to ask about Hang Chuhan's life.

?

"Oh, him? Successful career, living the high life. But I bet he really hates you."

?

Sheng Xia felt as if countless knives were stabbing him, and tears streamed down his face. He deserved it. Nine years ago, he had abandoned Hang Chuhan. Now that he had decided to return to the country, he was prepared to pursue Hang Chuhan for as long as it took.

Sheng Xia engineered chance encounters, clung to him, and tried all kinds of seduction, but Hang Chuhan continued to speak coldly to him and act as if he didn't care.

"Sheng Xia, what makes you think I still love you?"

"Couldn't I afford a plane ticket to England? But I never once thought of going to find you."

"Stop bothering me. I don't want to see you."

Sheng Xia knew that no number of apologies could change anything. He didn't want to use his reason for leaving to make himself seem pitiful either, because he knew how hard these nine years had been for Hang Chuhan, if anything, harder than they had been for him.

Sheng Xia shamelessly said, "Don't forgive me too easily. Make me suffer properly. Wait until I've chased you until I'm coughing up blood, then take pity on me and marry me, okay?"

Hang Chuhan glared at him. "In your dreams!"

Sheng Xia pressed closer. "But I'm already beautiful. You used to call me the Beauty Sheng!"

Hang Chuhan gritted his teeth and cursed him, then held Sheng Xia by the chin and asked, "Before you left, you wrote me a note saying not to hate you, because hate lasts longer than love. Do you still think so?"

Sheng Xia blinked and smiled. "No. Nothing lasts longer than love. I love you, and I always have."
