[One Piece] Sailing with the Sea

What kind of destination could possibly be worth all the hardship along the way?

A girl sat on the gunwale, swinging her legs and humming a tune no one recognized.

Nearby, a boy practiced his sword swings. His dazzling red hair glowed warmly in the evening sun.

A blue-haired boy furiously chased the person who had teased him about his red nose, knives flying everywhere.

Some people drank, some laughed as they watched the crew fool around on deck, and some lay in the sun, looking blissfully at ease. Someone in a kimono sat quietly fishing by the gunwale, with a cat and a dog beside them.

Someone had stolen food and was now being chased by the head chef, who wielded a giant iron ladle. Someone couldn't stand the heat and jumped into the sea for a swim. And someone was fast asleep in the captain's cabin, only to be dragged out by the grim-faced first mate.

Could things really go on like this forever?

It was a rainy day when their captain announced that the crew was disbanding and the voyage was over.

Some left without hesitation after saying their goodbyes. Some looked reluctant, but chose to leave in the end. Someone couldn't accept it and clung desperately to the gunwale, refusing to let go... Some were confused, some were silent, some were relieved, and some were helpless.

A year after they all went their separate ways, their captain was sentenced to death, and his final order was: Don't come to rescue me!

Why? The two boys could not understand as they watched their captain being stabbed by two weak executioners, tears streaming down their faces.

But their realization and apologies came too late.

The Red Nose boy chose to leave alone, the girl disappeared from the world, and only the red-haired boy inherited the captain's will and chose to remain at sea.

The three who had once been inseparable went their separate ways. Each chose a path and kept walking it, right or wrong.
