Wen Bairan and Zhou Lin had been together for eight years.
On the eighth day after their breakup, Zhou Lin got drunk and gave his former address to the designated driver.
He pushed open the door. The vast living room was dark. In the fish tank, two silver-white bettas swam together beneath a bewitching purple light, their tails like illusory waves blotting out the sky.
Wen Bairan was sprawled on the sofa, one shoulder bare. At the sound of the door, she hurriedly sat up. “Why are you here?”
The man in front of her rose unhurriedly. An un-dried lipstick mark still stained the collar of his white shirt.
Zhou Lin clenched his teeth until he tasted blood. “You’ve got some nerve.”

After eight years of dating,
Wen Bairan had grown to loathe the whole thing.
Her boss, Song Xu, made her a proposal.
“Marry me.”
“The house, the car, and shares in the company will all be yours.”
“No meeting the parents, no wedding banquet. It doesn’t matter whether we fall in love.”
Wen Bairan thought, Is this for real? “What do you get out of it?”
Song Xu leisurely tugged at his tie, his long eyes narrowing. “I’ll save on rent.”

Prelude to Captivity
1.
Jiang Yun lost her memory in a car accident two years ago. When she woke up, she had a husband.
In the eyes of outsiders, her husband treated her wonderfully: handsome, wealthy, gentle, and attentive. Apart from being a little controlling, he was perfect in every way.
But only Jiang Yun knew what sordid depths the refined, aloof genius architect revealed once he shed his professional facade.
On countless moonless nights, he gazed at her with feverish eyes, longing for her body.
“Relax. Let me take care of you.”
Unable to accept his extreme duality, Jiang Yun trembled as she suggested they divorce.
His teeth pierced her skin with pinpoint accuracy.
Jiang Yun shuddered.
The person bent over her lifted his face. The bloody sweetness on his lips mingled with the fresh jasmine by the bed, creating an indescribably alluring fragrance.
“Are you trying to run away again?”
“...Again?”
The corners of the man’s eyes, stirred by desire, held a mysterious menace.
2.
After that night, Jiang Yun was trapped at home.
She couldn’t go out. Her only daily contact with the outside world was opening the door to collect the flowers Jiang Zongyu had ordered.
Pale purple irises, beautiful enough to steal the soul.
She stared at the flowers, lost in thought, feeling certain she had seen them somewhere before.
In the bathroom, Jiang Yun stood with her back to the mirror and undid her collar. A long surgical scar clung to the back of her neck like a venomous insect.
Jiang Zongyu had said the surgeon’s stitching was poor, and that if it bothered her, she could cover it with her hair. So Jiang Yun had been growing her hair for two years, never suspecting a thing.
She gently lifted her hair and turned around, looking for the first time at the end of the scar in the mirror:
A broken iris branch, blooming in decadent splendor.
As her heart pounded violently, Jiang Zongyu’s voice sounded darkly in her ear. “Piaopiao, why won’t you behave?”
3.
The floodgates of memory reopened.
Thunderclaps echoed through the labyrinthine hillside villa Jiang Zongyu had built with his own hands.
Jiang Yun burst into the attic he had never allowed her to enter. By chance, she hit a switch, and the sky screen in the ceiling slowly opened.
Rain battered the glass. Shadows of raindrops streamed across the sheets of paper covering the room.
Jiang Yun as a girl, her skirt billowing;
Jiang Yun at university, looking angry and petulant;
Jiang Yun after leaving the hospital, lost and helpless...
The countless moments missing from her memory returned in these images. Jiang Yun slumped to the floor.
Behind her, Jiang Zongyu’s troubled gaze was drenched by the rain. His sigh of grief curled around her like a ghost’s whisper. “I only wanted to keep you here.”
“Or die together.”
*There is no muse in this world, only fate.
*So, Jiang Yun, the cage I built for you has trapped me too.

Theme: Love yourself before you love someone else
You must be sick, Zhou Zao cheated on you. You still broke up with him before sleeping with the male protagonist. Where did the sense of betrayal come from and moved you?
But I still seem to like A-Lin more
Don't believe it [Joker] There are so many people pursuing you and crushing on you, you must have received a lot of favoritism. So the essence is that you have never loved, so you don't care about that. You only care about the preference from Wen Bairan.
This is the first time that the male protagonist is really attracted to him. He is also afraid of being hurt and does not dare to get too deep. He knows that the female protagonist only treats him as a py now, so he asks for it forcefully while saying it out loud 🐶 This kind of pulling is so delicious [loving eyes] [loving eyes]
Who can tell me, is this woman trying to gain leverage?
I don't understand the point of writing this female supporting role. .
Rin~ Can you please cheer up? Rin~ This name is really so old Mary Sue
Good, good, let me leave two big words, you deserve it!
Seeing this, the style is actually very suitable for PO. It starts to be yellow and yellow when there is a disagreement. The dialogues of the characters are all interludes (I don't mean to say I don't like it). However, I still don't understand the feelings of the male protagonist towards the female protagonist.
I like to read the text of the ambiguous period 🐶
