His Majesty Has Died Again

Gou Yu, female, a ghost official in the Hall of Severed Affection in the Underworld; His Majesty, male, an imperial soul who has lived through ten lifetimes.

Fated to torment each other, you love me for one lifetime and I dote on you for the next. I want your heart, and I want your life.

To break up His Majesty's ill-fated romances in every lifetime, Gou Yu transmigrates through three thousand worlds, taking over all sorts of ordinary people and turning their lives upside down: a country girl, a dowager empress, a female bandit, a graceful young man, an innocent demoness, a cold immortal. She flirts with men, women, and His Majesty alike, driving him to the brink of death again and again, unable to let go.

When they return from the cycle of reincarnation, she is unaware of the depth of her feelings and keeps him at arm's length. He is madly in love and faces a long road to win her back. In the end, will he save her, or will he be the one to lead her astray?

A short excerpt:

Dressed in red as vivid as blood, she held a lantern shaped like a flower from the other shore. "Your Majesty, I... am here to send you on your way."

He frowned slightly. "Where to?"

She smiled. "Where you belong, and where I came from."

His heart leapt with joy, his eyes shining. "Hmm? Are you asking me to elope with you?"

She gave him a picture-perfect fake smile. "Yes. Please follow me, Your Majesty, onto the road to the Yellow Springs."

He rubbed his forehead and sighed languidly. "Have I died again?"

She nodded. "Yes, Your Majesty. You've passed away again."

Theme: No matter how the years pass or people change, the soul I love has always been yours: the fascinating one.
