[Bright, carefree, and shameless x aloof, devoted-to-his-wife heartthrob = lawyer x diplomat]
[I'll beat you, win you over, and make the whole world mine.]
As a girl, Tao Sizhi had a passionate crush on Gu Shenzhi. The whole school knew about it.
Gu Shenzhi was unmoved and handed the love letters she wrote straight to their teacher.
But he couldn't resist her teary-eyed pleas, so he ended up writing the entire 30,000-character self-criticism for her.
Someone, munching sunflower seeds and scattering shells everywhere, asked with a grin, "Are you crazy or something?"
In the nineteenth year of Tao Sizhi and Gu Shenzhi's childhood friendship, she finally won over the aloof heartthrob and brought him down from his pedestal.
It didn't last. Tao Sizhi tossed the flower aside and left the country.
She left him with a harsh declaration: "Even if I die, I will never like Gu Shenzhi again."

She was gone for three years without a word. The day she returned, she crashed into a Maybach.
The good news: She was fine, knew the law, and could afford to pay for the damage.
The bad news: The car belonged to Gu Shenzhi, who refused to accept compensation. Tao Sizhi felt she might as well have died in the crash.
Gu Shenzhi rejected every proposed solution. Tao Sizhi gave up and asked, "What do you want?"
"I scored thirteen points higher than you in civil law, and I tutored you for the final exam." The man looked down at her.
His voice was cool and clear. "Why don't you say a few more things so I can refute them one by one? Or we could settle this at my place."
"If there's a problem, let's solve it. Can you please get away from me?" Tao Sizhi, trapped in his arms, was on the verge of tears.
Gu Shenzhi leaned closer and murmured in her ear, "I've finally caught you. I can't let you get away again."
*The car was bought with his family's money, all legally earned. He doesn't usually drive it. In the story, he took it out that day to drive the wedding procession for a friend. -w-
