When Oranges Turn Green

[I only write this story when I'm dead drunk. Writing it was satisfying for me, but it may not match what readers imagine, so proceed with caution. Here's a toast to any kindred spirits I might meet.] Three years after they broke up, Qin Zui suddenly became Xiang Huaixue's direct superior. That very day, Xiang Huaixue submitted a resignation letter, planning to use up his remaining paid vacation and leave without delay. They seemed to be at each other's throats, so everyone assumed they were sworn enemies. In reality, they had grown up together and been together for many years. When a gossip-loving bystander asked what their relationship was, they got completely different answers. Xiang Huaixue said: "An old flame." Qin Zui said: "A new love." In truth, these two had known each other since birth. How could two words explain nearly thirty years of back and forth? Though I know this is a place of heartbreak, I have returned to moor my boat once more. Remember this fine season of the year: when the oranges are gold and the tangerines green. Happy ending, happy ending, happy ending. I say it three times because it's important. This was written while drunk, so readers who need content warnings are advised not to read it. Theme: Don't be afraid or despair. Believe in yourself.
