Farming and Raising Bears in the Apocalypse

Completed

Su Ruan arrived in the post-apocalyptic world just as the apocalypse had ended and reconstruction was underway. After being betrayed by Feng, she woke up in a dilapidated thatched hut, with a mountain of a man outside, clattering away as he made her a soft-boiled egg.

The man was fierce, tall, and broad. At just five-foot-three, she looked like a child beside him, and he didn't like her either. Luckily, she had a lost bear. The little bear was thin and small, kept her company at meals, helped wash the dishes, and dug the land to plant crops.

On rainy days, she put a melon-rind hat and a little straw raincoat on the bear when it went out. She also had it carry a jar of honey as a snack.

The very fierce man: Hmph. There's no way I'm getting close to Su Ruan! And I could never like her!

Then he transformed into a scrawny little bear, ran up to Su Ruan, and held up a honey jar. "Ruanruan, the honey in Bear's jar is all gone."

After the bear turned back into a man, he put on a fierce, solemn face. "Right, the bear isn't me, and I'm not the bear. Anyway, Ruanruan wants mutant chicken, so I'm going hunting."

The little one claimed to be the Stove God. Since nobody believed in him or offered him worship, he was slowly disappearing. No one else could see him, so every day before school, An Nuonuo would sweetly tell him, "I believe in you."

Then she gave him half her food every day. When other Stove Gods needed a lamp, she lit one for her little one. When other Stove Gods wore bright, beautiful clothes, she went to pick through the trash to find him new clothes, afraid that the other Stove Gods would think her little one was too poor to play with.

After she had diligently cared for him for several years, her little one suddenly transformed into a handsome young man. He came up to her, slowly bent down, looked into her eyes, and whispered, "Nuonuo, all the other Stove Gods have wives..."

Nuonuo, the doting mother, panicked. What could she do? Could she make him a paper bride?

The young man: ...
