A beast-tamer who is sometimes scatterbrained and sometimes sharp, Ning You, paired with Long Ming, a cold, taciturn, powerful beast.
Once upon a time, there was a mountain. On the mountain was a temple, and in the temple lived an old Taoist priest and a young apprentice. The old priest said, "Since the world split into three realms, there have been Taoists, beasts, and humans. Strange beasts prey on the people, leaving them in misery. Taoists hunt the beasts, restoring peace. Your master is old now, Ning You. You must go down the mountain and protect the people on your own."
Ning You, utterly bewildered, looked at the old priest sitting on top of a huge chest of money. He touched the palm-sized short sword at his waist and asked, "Master, how much gold did the ruler give you?"
The old priest: "...Well... Wealth is just an external possession. As you go down the mountain, your master will give you a treasure to protect your life!"
Ning You looked at him expectantly...
After a thousand years sealed away, Long Ming finally broke free of the jade. He had intended to roar across the heavens and summon wind and rain, but just as the world darkened, his true form shrank dramatically. He struggled out of the jade, raised his head, and found himself face-to-face with a human. Dragon eyes met human eyes...
Ning You looked at the "little lizard" that wasn't even as long as his sword and fell silent for a moment... He aimed at the distance, tossed it into the air, and kicked it as hard as he could. "To hell with you! You old bastard! You tricked me with a lizard!"
Long Ming, kicked onto a tree branch, rolled his eyes. "...My poor back!..."
