Beneath His Favor

[The main story is complete!] After her father was wrongfully imprisoned, Baoyi was left with nowhere to turn, so she sought shelter under the Regent's household. On a snowy night, she knelt before the towering red gates, her slender neck held straight as the snow swirled around her. The servants looked at her with contempt. She was only the daughter of a fifth-rank official, and she dared come to the prince's residence? They were about to drive her away when they noticed the prince had been watching from the pavilion for some time, and hurriedly fell silent. Beyond the veil of snow, a shadow stood high up in the nine-story tower. Baoyi knew he was watching her. She forced her trembling voice steady. "If Your Highness would kindly spare me, Baoyi will repay you. I will conceal nothing, body or soul." The prince had intended to kill her, but seeing the pale face and the single rose-red spot of her lips, he abruptly changed his mind. The Regent's prince took a wicked fancy to her and forcibly kept her by his side. He pinched her chin, his tone casual. "Where could you go without me?"
