[Extremely Dramatic] [Self-Published, Self-Sold]
Zhou Tong was once the most arrogant young playboy in the capital. He had connections everywhere, a fortune to his name, and a life of wine, women, and endless fun.
Unfortunately, the Zhou family fell into decline and was saddled with enormous debts. Every rival they had ever crossed came looking for revenge.
Overnight, Zhou Tong fell from the clouds into the mud. He went into hiding and lived a life worse than a dog's.
His enemies came for revenge, broke his hand, and pinned his head underfoot, humiliating him in front of all the people he used to look down on.
No one would save him. No one would lend him money. One by one, all those so-called good friends from before shut their doors on him.
Just as he was sinking helplessly into the mire, lying in a shabby house with his battered body, ready to die, someone suddenly burst in.
The woman carried a first-aid kit and slowly surveyed everything in his room.
Tang Ning set down the kit and crouched to examine his arm. It was smeared with blood, the wound a gruesome mess.
At last, he remembered.
She was the receptionist at his company, always wandering around in a silly, tacky dress. Back then, Zhou Tong wouldn't have given a woman like her a second glance.
He had once mocked her in front of his subordinates: "Why didn't Li Quan hire someone prettier? She doesn't even know how ugly she is. If she wears that dress again tomorrow, she's fired."
Zhou Tong still remembered how she had looked then: face flushed, body trembling, furious and humiliated, yet too afraid to speak.
Tang Ning said, "It's broken. You need treatment."
Without even looking at her, he shoved her away, pulled out his own cigarette, and shakily lit it with one hand. His voice was cold as ice. "Get the hell out."
The cigarette had been crushed underfoot, and there were still dirty shoe prints on it. He had once been such a proud young master, always dressed in the finest clothes and eating the best food. Now he had fallen so low that he was smoking a cigarette someone else had stepped on.
Tang Ning looked him over inch by inch, a smile welling in her eyes. "Zhou Tong, so this is where you ended up."
Her smile cut straight to the bone. Zhou Tong burned with rage, trembling all over as he swept her first-aid kit away with one hand, like a trapped beast. "Get out."
Tang Ning wasn't the least bit afraid. She stood with her arms folded, looking down at him. "Do you want to die, Zhou Tong?"
"If you don't want to die, then from this moment on, you do as I say."
