Rare Species

The term "rare species" usually appears in textbooks or encyclopedias. Miao Hehua used to think it had nothing to do with her.

Until one day...

She found out that she was a rare species herself, and was so shocked she dropped her cleaver...

Thoroughly bewildered, but still trying to stay calm: I think there may be some misunderstanding. Why don't you explain it, and we can sort this out?

A staff member at the Interstellar Conservation Center smiled brightly: There's no need to worry. There are only 1,030 people of Chinese descent from Earth left nowadays. We all qualify as an endangered species!

Miao Hehua opened her mouth: ...

That wasn't what she meant!!

Mini-story #1:

Miao Hehua, who grew up on Earth, had always worked toward becoming a chef. First she became the finest fruit farmer around, then, relying on animal-like instincts and a lot of guesswork, she managed to get into an alien college to study cooking.

Town mayor Li Fugui: I simply must introduce the first person from our town in two hundred years to get into an alien college! Comrade Miao Hehua!! No wonder she's one of the four beauties of our town!

Her second uncle grinned so hard his face was a mass of wrinkles: Hehua~~ What a good girl. She's as strong as an ox, and she's a martial arts expert, too! The way she handles that big cleaver is a sight to behold!

Li Jianguo, the only teacher in town: This girl always gets full marks on multiple-choice questions, but her written answers are a different story. She keeps copying the multiple-choice options into them. Also, we're grateful that eighty percent of the interstellar exam is multiple-choice.

Miao Hehua, sounding a little unsure: That's supposed to be a compliment, right? Why does it feel so off?

#2# Miao Hehua: "Can I ask you something?"

Eurika: "Sure."

Miao Hehua, puzzled: "Why do you keep staring at me?"

Eurika, her beautiful face turning red in an instant: "Because, because you're really beautiful!"

When did you go blind!!! Miao Hehua was horrified.

Miao Hehua, who always tells it like it is, and Eurika, who is always trying to be romantic with her.
