The male lead, Lin Fan, is a character I created. At first, I wanted Mai Jun to be the male lead. Mai Jun is responsible; although he makes some mistakes early on, he's fundamentally loyal and protective of his own. Especially after watching Firepower 2, I really wished someone would stand up for Mili when she was being wronged. The person I thought of in that moment was Mai Jun. But writing Mai Jun would involve too many things about the Jianghai team, and I was also worried about ruining his character, so in the end I chose to create a new character, someone who would protect Mili. And, well, have them fall in love, too.
