My Figure Skating Partner Fell for Me After Hearing My Thoughts

[Please add my next novel, Ordinary Person Stumbles into an ABO World, to your reading list] Luo Chidu is a singles skater from the provincial team, and is about to retire. As an omega, he's gorgeous, graceful, and supple. He's good at performing, and the provincial team's coach thinks he'd be a promising pairs skater. In pairs skating, an omega's ideal partner is an alpha. But Luo Chidu is terrified of alphas. He has to choose between retiring and overcoming his fear of alphas. * He gets bound to a System. The System tells him his future partner is a beta, and that the other person will be able to read his mind. Luo Chidu: "..." He decides to act out his inner thoughts to find this beta. The good news: he finds a beta who's even better than an alpha! The bad news: this beta is a singles skating legend on the national team. There's no way he'd ever come down from his lofty perch to partner with him. Luo Chidu tries to use this legend to find another beta. And then... the legend comes down from his lofty perch?! The legend is called Yu Yan. He's cold, but surprisingly nice, except he doesn't like being touched casually by other people. He's a technical genius, but not so good at performing. No problem, Luo Chidu can help bring out his potential. * When Yu Yan retires, skating fans weep bitterly. When he makes a comeback, they can't smile. The crowd is outraged: "Has God Yu been cursed or something? Why is he skating pairs with an ordinary omega?!" "Yu Yan still has a shot in men's singles. Why switch to pairs? How can a beta and an omega compete with an alpha-omega team?" After a competition one day, Luo Chidu sits on Yu Yan's shoulders, a gleaming gold medal hanging on his chest. A reporter asks them how they broke the alpha-omega teams' monopoly on pairs gold medals. Luo Chidu puffs out his cheeks. "This might be hard to believe, but my partner can hear my thoughts. I only just found out." The speechless fans: Sure, keep making things up! * Pairs skaters usually become roommates to build their chemistry. Betas and omegas don't need to keep their distance. They can even share a bed. Luo Chidu rolls into Yu Yan's bed. "Brother Yan, it's so nice that you're a beta!" He mutters to himself: [Alphas are bad, betas are good. I hate alphas most of all!] Yu Yan hears his thoughts and struggles to rein in the alpha pheromones about to escape as he rubs against him. His Adam's apple bobs. He tucks the omega in his arms under the covers. "...Oh." He differentiated into an alpha after his little partner flirted with him. How is that supposed to work? He can only pretend to still be a beta for now. * 002 (shy): Host, try the new feature. Luo Chidu (borrowing his partner's warmth to heat his feet, confused): What feature? Luo Chidu: ... ...Was that Yu Yan's inner voice? Theme: Skating as a pair, they share a journey and convey cultural confidence.
