He took her gun and looked at her teasingly. "Darling, long time no see."

She didn't answer. Her eyes were fixed on his wrist.

He was wearing the watch she'd given him years ago, the one he'd thrown away in front of her.

Only later did Su Lan learn that she hadn't been the first to give her heart.

[The story is mainly about military training. There's almost no romance during the training period. It's a passionate, female-led coming-of-age story.]

[Clarification and warnings]

Some people accused me of "whitewashing" drug lords and "vilifying" anti-drug officers. I never did either. I was unable to respond before, but I'm truly afraid of an atmosphere where people "convict" me based on a blurb alone.

I'd already written 80,000 words when I posted the first version of the blurb. The premise had been set by mid-2021. The male lead's real identity was always an instructor, not a military doctor, not an undercover agent, and certainly not a drug lord. Aside from some changes to the details, I did not change the premise because people criticized me.
