The first time Jiang Yutang visited the Xie family, her arranged-marriage partner warned her coldly to behave herself after the wedding and not meddle in other people's affairs. Then a tall, broad-shouldered man appeared around the corner, and his expression changed instantly. He introduced him with eager respect: "This is my eldest brother, Xie Chen."
Jiang Yutang looked up. The man had a composed face and an air of aristocratic elegance. He idly toyed with a familiar lighter in his hand.
She suddenly remembered that night: he had been sitting comfortably in a chair before the floor-to-ceiling window, legs crossed, a half-burnt cigarette between his fingers. Wisps of blue smoke curled through the air, and his profile appeared and disappeared in the flickering light, utterly captivating.
She walked over, bent down, and shared the same breath of smoke with him.
Meeting Xie Chen's deep, dark gaze, Jiang Yutang lowered her eyes and echoed the introduction.

Later, at the wedding, Jiang Yutang's arranged-marriage partner suddenly ran away, leaving her standing awkwardly onstage. The guests below whispered among themselves, saying Jiang Yutang wasn't worthy of marrying into the family, which was why the young master of the Xie family had fled.
After the two families discussed it, they were about to cancel the wedding.
Xie Chen strode onto the ceremonial platform, unhurriedly pinned the groom's boutonniere to his black suit, and announced in a low voice, "The wedding will continue."

Xie Chen was an object of admiration among West City's elite. Countless socialites dreamed of marrying into the Xie family, but Xie Chen had no interest in women and was famously restrained, earning him the title of West City's untouchable beauty, someone to admire from afar.
Everyone said Xie Chen had married Jiang Yutang only to save face for the Xie family, and that before long she would be thrown out.
Jiang Yutang knew their marriage was merely the result of a twist of fate. After using Xie Chen to achieve her goal, she took the initiative and signed the divorce papers.
Xie Chen picked them up and glanced over them, a faintly amused smile on his face. "You use me and then toss me aside?"
Jiang Yutang looked a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry. What do you need? I'll do my best to make it up to you."
Xie Chen's lips curled slightly. "That's easy. I need a wife."
Jiang Yutang: "..."
*The completed novel by Xie Yin, Xie Chen's younger sister, is called Cherished Marriage. It's also a marriage-first, love-later story, so check it out if you're interested!
Recommended upcoming novel: Wild, Unrestrained Romance. Please add it to your reading list!
Ming Tang was the most outstanding socialite in Yucheng's upper circles. Just as word got out that she was to marry into the powerful Si family, someone exposed her as an adopted daughter of the Ming family, a fake heiress.
When the real heiress, Ming Rou, returned, her adoptive parents immediately replaced Ming Tang with her as the bride-to-be for the Si family. Ming Rou declared that there was room in the family for her or Ming Tang, but not both, and her adoptive parents chose Ming Rou without hesitation.
Ming Tang left with nothing. The rain came down harder than on the day Gua Liu was beaten to death, nearly soaking her to the skin.
By chance, she ran into a handsome man who was just as drenched. Her weakness for good-looking men kicked in, and she took him back to her apartment.
Ming Tang checked her savings. She had plenty of money, more than enough to keep a man, so she decided to let him stay and enjoy a wonderful life with a handsome husband at her side.
*
Everyone thought Ming Tang would become poor and destitute after leaving home. The taunts and jeers were unbearable. To curry favor with Ming Rou, someone sent Ming Tang an invitation to a banquet, hoping to see her make a fool of herself.
Ming Tang refused to play along. She arrived in full evening dress, bringing the handsome boyfriend she'd picked up with her. The gorgeous couple outshone everyone there.
Ming Rou's expression changed, though not quite in the way people expected.
Ming Rou and her fiance walked over hand in hand and greeted Ming Tang's boyfriend respectfully in unison: "Uncle."
Ming Tang: "???"

The Si family was a bona fide top-tier wealthy family with immense power. The family's true head was now Si Yu, the youngest son of Old Master Si. They said he was ruthless and duplicitous, and that this was how he had managed to take control of the Si family before turning thirty.
Knowing she couldn't afford to offend this powerful man, Ming Tang pretended she needed the bathroom and tried to slip away. But the man cornered her in a dim, empty hallway, his strong arm wrapped around her waist. Ming Tang felt as if fate itself had her by the throat.
Si Yu casually slipped a diamond ring onto her ring finger, his deep, dark eyes full of amusement. "Mrs. Si, where do you think you're going?"
A few things to know before reading:

I remember that there was a book about Xie Xuan before, but it is no longer written now.
I will record that I procrastinated to finish reading it! 💪 💪 💪 2024.10.29
The novel I discovered by accident has somewhat cured my recent bad mood. The author's writing is really good, really good. Come on!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I finished reading it in one go. There are so few extras. Not enough!
I finished reading it in one day. It's great but too short.
I really like this book. The extra chapter is too short.
