After finishing the series Wu Xin: The Monster Killer, I kept wanting to write something about Yue Qiluo and Zhang Xianzong. I couldn't shake the feeling that there were regrets, that there was something I couldn't let go of. Yue Qiluo's final words, "Zhang Xianzong, my tooth hurts," hit me right in the tear ducts. Maybe it was only then that Yue Qiluo realized how different Zhang Xianzong was to her. To me, Lao Yue has always been a child, doing whatever she wants and treating everything, including love, like a game. She probably still doesn't understand what love is. Like with Wu Xin, she went to great lengths to be with him purely out of curiosity. And like with Zhang Xianzong, she was always calling him an ordinary mortal, indifferent to the hurt on his face. Those who are doted on have no fear. With Zhang Xianzong behind her, the little demon girl could act without fear and do whatever she pleased. It wasn't until Zhang Xianzong died that she realized just how dependent she had become on him. When she hid behind the tree and said those words, perhaps she had begun to understand, just a little, what love was.
So I want Lao Yue to have another chance, to make up for her regrets and mine.
P.S. Since this is a reborn story, some parts might not be entirely rigorous, and at least can't be explained scientifically. Don't take it too seriously, just enjoy it.
