The Frail Young Lord Recovers, and His Stepsister Regrets It

Everyone knows that the heir of the Duke of Zhenguo was poisoned while investigating a case. The imperial physicians were helpless and declared that he would not live to see the end of winter.

My stepsister was engaged to the heir. When the Duke of Zhenguo's household demanded that she honor the betrothal and marry him to bring him good fortune, she cried and made a scene at home, refusing to marry. Her elders were heartbroken for her.

Because they didn't want my stepsister to be widowed at such a young age, they married me, an outsider to the family, into the Duke of Zhenguo's household instead.

I learned medicine from my mother as a child and traveled far and wide, seeing all sorts of cases. The strange poison afflicting the young master of the Duke's household was a minor problem to me. Under my care, he recovered his health and returned to his position as a Junior Minister of the Court of Judicial Review.

When my stepsister saw how promising the heir was, she began to covet him and ordered me to ask for a divorce and give up my place as his wife.

How laughable. Is being his wife something she can just decide for herself?

Has she even asked what the heir thinks?
