Blurb: The prodigal returns / Kyoto socialite vs. aloof wild rose
Yu Shi first properly met Yin Huaiyan at a famous den of extravagance in Kyoto. She had gone to bail out her troublemaking younger brother.
When they saw her, the young heirs were dazzled. They brought out a case of liquor and deliberately made things difficult for her.
As they reached an impasse, the man lounging among a crowd of beauties chuckled lazily. A glowing red cigarette ember rested between his fingers as he drawled in a low, magnetic voice, "That's enough. Stop giving the poor girl a hard time."
She looked over and met Yin Huaiyan's smiling eyes.
They met again later.
A male classmate had confessed to her and wouldn't leave her alone. Her sleeves were soaked, and she looked as disheveled as ever.
A soft laugh suddenly came from a dark corner nearby.
The man stepped out of the darkness, and the motion-activated light switched on. Smoke curled around his fingers as he smiled carelessly. "Sorry, I laughed. Go on."
As he brushed past her, he caught her by the wrist and blurted out, "Little Rose, will you give me a chance too?"
Male lead's perspective:
Yin Huaiyan went to great lengths to pursue a very special girl.
At first, he just thought she was cold and proud, always carrying a faint scent of roses. Her temperament was like a rose too: tempting, but thorny. It was fascinating.
But when it was time to break up, he suddenly realized he might have fallen for her. He couldn't bear to let her go.
But this girl had no heart. She left with effortless decisiveness.
Later, they reunited after a long separation amid a blizzard.
She gave him an umbrella. Another man stood beside her, and her dark eyes were icy, as if she could see straight through him. "Stop sitting outside my house."
It was then that Yin Huaiyan finally understood.
His little rose had never belonged to him.
There may be five thousand flowers in the world that look just like you, but you alone are my one and only rose., The Little Prince
