Class 2, Grade 7

I'm serializing a new story, "The Wild Building Archive". Please add it to your library!

On a stormy night, Teng Yao meets a man carrying an umbrella.

From then on, his detective work, which used to consist of catching cats and photographing cheaters, changes completely. The cases people bring him become increasingly strange and convoluted. Whenever he encounters a mystery he can't solve, the man with the umbrella appears, holding it over the two of them and sheltering them beneath the same sky.

Much later, Teng Yao sits on a suitcase, with an obviously expensive sports car parked behind him. He shamelessly says, "This car wiped out all my savings. Now I'm homeless. Take me in, will you?"

Lu Yuan smiles. "Sure."

Another graduation season has arrived.

Some graduates of Jiugong University receive an entrance exam from Class 2, Grade 7.

Grade 7? What is that supposed to be? A graduate program?

Aren't graduate programs voluntary?

According to students from previous years, Class 2, Grade 7 is always recruiting.

Then... what about Class 1?

When Yan Huai receives the exam notice, he's completely baffled. Only the medical school at Jiugong University has a six-year program. Seven years would be enough for a combined bachelor's and master's, wouldn't it?

Besides, he's graduating in his fourth year. Why would he go into a seventh year?

He asks around and discovers that, besides him, only someone named Zuo Yuanbai from the neighboring college received the notice.

What's more, nobody at the entire university has even heard of Grade 7, much less knows what the entrance exam involves.

So, can he just skip the exam?

Yan Huai thinks so.

But getting into Class 2, Grade 7 isn't something you can do just because you want to,

nor can you refuse just because you don't want to.
