To my readers, who have been with me all this time:
While writing this story, I consulted historical sources from many sides and faithfully described the actions of the ancient Hebrews, including some brutal massacres of entire cities. Five years ago, when I first began writing about the fall of Jericho, I had yet to realize just how heavy this history was. But now, as the real-world Israeli-Palestinian conflict has escalated further and innocent people are losing their lives, sorrow and shame have suddenly overwhelmed me.
For a long time, I thought I was simply writing a fictional story about Solomon, borrowing only certain historical settings, and that it could have nothing to do with reality. But now, people are suffering, and that suffering is so real that I cannot look away.
History continues to repeat itself, and peace has not come at last.
At a time like this, I cannot shamelessly pretend all is well and keep writing this adventure about Solomon. I am afraid that, out of affection for the characters, I might unconsciously romanticize or vilify things that should be viewed more objectively. Subjective and biased opinions of my own would be a betrayal of the suffering in the real world.
I will organize and share the outline later.
May there be peace in the world.
