He’s sick, but you’re the one who can make him better. You’ll also start to understand Angeal. It may seem unbelievable, but he actually feels inferior when he’s with you. He keeps thinking, ‘Wait a little longer, just a little longer,’ until he misses his chance. And this is only the beginning. Everything will get better...”

“It’s nothing... I might... care about you a little... that’s all... It makes me happy, so I’m sad.”

Cloud gasped, lowering his head in confusion as blood gushed from his chest and covered his helpless hands. He looked up again, and Sephiroth’s figure came into view. As if something had stirred inside him, he struggled toward him. The appearance belonging to another personality gradually peeled away and dissolved into black mist, revealing the young, battered person beneath. He cast aside his memories, his feelings, his sense of self... until he had nothing left. Alone, he crossed the boundary between hope and despair and finally came before him, stripped bare.

“Thank goodness...” A sigh of satisfaction, heartbreaking in its tenderness. His last breath slipped away. “Until the very end... you were still... my hero...”

“It’s a weapon created by the Planet, meant to destroy Jenova, and itself as well.”

“He isn’t. If he were a Planet weapon, why has he never taken any action?”

“It’s a Planet weapon, but he’s also Cloud.”

“I don’t understand.”

“Because he became a monster for you, but he also became human again for you.”
