This story is made up of a series of short tales. Roughly every two chapters, or ten thousand characters, there's a new couple, for a total of nine couples. Each couple's story shares the same chapter title, with (1) and (2) distinguishing the chapters. In other words, there are nine stories. Here, the author tries to explore how different kinds of romance can be portrayed in a single book, with each story expressing something different. They're all linked together like a chain, like a game.
To be precise, every chapter title is either a classic old song or connected to one. There are many, many versions of some songs, so please choose the versions I've listed. You can read along with the song titles provided here for an even better experience!
Just think of this story as a collection of linked feel-good moments. It's light and easy, with no plot that requires much thought. In a way, it's also a wish-fulfillment story.
