Sunny, cheerful, boyish bottom x outwardly gentlemanly, inwardly dark and unhinged top
Ye Zi and Yan Zhuo had been married for five years, living as a couple in name only. Ye Zi thought Yan Zhuo was wonderful in every way, except for one thing: he didn't love him.
After agonizing over it, Ye Zi finally made up his mind to divorce his husband. Just as he'd expected, Yan Zhuo didn't even ask a single question. He signed the divorce papers without hesitation.
Heartbroken, Ye Zi thought his husband had been looking forward to their divorce all along. But as soon as the papers were signed, an unexpected accident struck, and Ye Zi died.
When he opened his eyes again, Ye Zi found himself at his own funeral, a ghost no one could see.
His friends and family, along with his parents, were dressed in black and knelt before his portrait, sobbing uncontrollably. Ye Zi looked around and spotted his ex-husband standing in the farthest corner. He hadn't shed a single tear the entire time, making him the most conspicuous person there.
Ye Zi gritted his teeth. He hadn't thought his ex-husband could be so heartless. They'd been married, after all. Couldn't he even manage to feel a little sad for him?
Watching his ex-husband's hypocritical face, Ye Zi resolved to get revenge on this heartless man.
He hadn't been able to beat him when he was alive, but now that he was a ghost, surely he could get back at Yan Zhuo.
So Ye Zi started following his ex-husband around every day. He sat on Yan Zhuo's shoulder and sang while he brushed his teeth in the morning, and rolled around on top of him while he slept at night. When Yan Zhuo walked alone at night, Ye Zi would make creepy noises to scare him.
As time went by, Ye Zi naturally settled in by his ex-husband's side. He figured he might as well haunt Yan Zhuo for a few more years, then go reincarnate once he got bored.
Until one day, Ye Zi happened to see that someone had covered his urn and portrait in talismans, and scrawled all sorts of incomprehensible symbols around them. His ex-husband picked up the portrait and reverently pressed a kiss to it.
"Now you can be with me forever."
Yan Zhuo murmured.
Then he turned to look at Ye Zi behind him and lifted the corners of his lips into an inscrutable smile.
"How are you planning to get back at me today?"
--
Everyone knew Yan Zhuo was composed and calm, highly self-disciplined, gentlemanly, and virtuous.
Only Yan Zhuo himself knew that he was obsessive and gloomy. Once he set his sights on someone, he wanted to keep them locked by his side. So the first time he saw Ye Zi, that was exactly what he wanted to do.
But Ye Zi was too wonderful. He was like a ray of sunlight shining into a dark abyss, melting away all the coldness that clung to Yan Zhuo. Yan Zhuo was afraid that the darkness in his heart would scare Ye Zi away, so he had always tried his hardest to keep it in check.
Unexpectedly, Ye Zi still left him, saying that he didn't think Yan Zhuo loved him enough.
By the time Yan Zhuo came to his senses, he had received the news of Ye Zi's death.
He stood at Ye Zi's funeral, looking at the man smiling brightly in the portrait as the people around him wept uncontrollably. He alone stood there calmly.
People called him cold-blooded and heartless, saying he wouldn't even blink if the sky fell.
Even Yan Zhuo himself believed it. His ex-husband had died, that was all. He would never be trapped in a cage of grief.
It wasn't until he saw a translucent soul fly toward him that Yan Zhuo met its eyes and suddenly realized:
He had gone mad long ago.
