Satan's Love Letter

1.

While packing up old things before moving, Lin Xingwan found a yellowed postcard that had fallen out of an old book.

Xie Yunshu had sent it to her when he went to Yanjing for closed-door training at sixteen. They said that night he'd secretly climbed over the wall and walked a long way through the snow, making several detours before the postcard finally reached her.

The handwriting on the card was vigorous and carefree, every word and line expressing how much he missed her.

Seventeen-year-old Lin Xingwan hadn't thought much of it, but at twenty-three, she suddenly burst into tears.

2.

After several years apart, when Lin Xingwan saw Xie Yunshu again, he had become an untouchable big shot in Yanjing, powerful enough to turn clouds into rain.

When she was driven into a corner, tears in her eyes, Lin Xingwan cursed him as a bastard in her heart while biting hard into his shoulder. He only pulled his rumpled collar wider, turned his head, and laughed hoarsely. "Harder. Bite me right here."

3.

Once, nobody in the world knew Lin Xingwan liked Xie Yunshu.

Later, everybody in the world knew Xie Yunshu loved Lin Xingwan.

"Thy love is better than high birth to me, with fortune's favours: in my love I am more rich than princes are." (Shakespeare, Sonnet 29)
