My Sword Chronicles

I've been playing Blade & Sword for nearly four years. Chinese-made online games don't seem to be very popular, but I've always admired this game. I've wanted to write something about it for ages, but never had the time. Now I've only managed to squeeze this in between writing other things. It's not really an article, just a few interesting tidbits.

The characters' genders and ages in this piece do not reflect the author's actual details.

The game is mainly focused on competitive fighting, and its competitive system is truly top-notch. Equipment matters to some extent, but skill matters more. I once watched a level 70-plus player fight a level 90 player, and the lower-level player won. The game's only drawback is that it's too complicated. It's suited to players with a certain level of education.

The full title is Blade & Sword Online. I think Sun Nan is its spokesperson, and the background music is great too, especially the Qingzhou track, 'Snowfield.' I once tried playing it on the piano and thought it sounded pretty good.

Theme Song

How do we reckon up old grudges?

Better to ask the sword than ask the heavens.

Are wounds a keepsake?

Every day, danger passes close by.

Even heroes get troubled sometimes.

What do you do when there's no opponent?

All that's left is to fight yourself.

Only the blade grows lonelier, the sword more solitary.

Can't pierce through, can't see through feelings.

When will this Jianghu dream finally end?

That arc of the blade splits love in two.

Who is left, eyes reddened in the wind?

Even heroes run out of steam sometimes.

A flash of anger, all for a beauty.

Ask not about the world's warmth or cold.

In my heart, the universe itself turns upside down.

Can't pierce through, can't see through feelings.

When will this Jianghu dream finally end?

That arc of the blade splits love in two.

Who is left, eyes reddened in the wind?

Can't pierce through, can't see through feelings.

When will this Jianghu dream finally end?

That arc of the blade splits love in two.

Who is left, eyes reddened in the wind?

The sun sets, but the wanderer has yet to return.

The sun sets, and the wanderer is long gone.
