The River God (The River)

This is still part of the Purple Heron and Red Fox series, a story of Tang Fei and Murong Feng’s adventures in the martial world.

Young Murong Feng has just set foot in the martial world and is learning medicine from Master Peacock. While visiting a prison to treat the inmates, she discovers a poisoned prisoner: Liu An, an honest official framed by corrupt officials who embezzled relief grain meant for victims of the Yellow River floods. Liu An’s friend Tian Ruyu comes to break him out, only to find that Liu An is already dead. He takes Liu An’s son, Tie Feng, with him, unaware that Murong Feng has used disguise to switch places with Tie Feng. From then on, she joins him in evading the pursuit of both the authorities and martial sects...

The forces on all sides eventually clash aboard boats drifting on the Yellow River.

Come, dear readers, and see how a young girl with her hair still in pigtails turns the tide of fate!
