Xia Wu, a history graduate and a terrible student, accidentally dies while staying up late at home studying for the civil service exam.

When she wakes up, she discovers she has become the administrator of a district. She’s responsible for welcoming the human emperors who are about to move in, assigning them homes and supplies according to their dynasties and achievements.

Xia Wu: “...” Have I actually passed the underworld civil service exam?!

Qin Shi Huang Ying Zheng, the first emperor of China, is assigned a huge plot of land. He happily waits for his descendants to arrive for generations to come, but only Qin Er Shi Hu Hai shows up.

The First Emperor roars, “Where’s my Fusu? Where’s my eternal Qin Empire?”

Although Liu Bang, founder of the Han dynasty, doesn’t get a very large plot, his great-grandson Liu Che is impressive and immediately expands the land belonging to the Liu family.

The Han Emperor Wu, Liu Che, draws a smartphone, and the first thing he does is proudly post on Weibo: “I am the one true emperor of the ages.”

Emperor Wen of Sui, Yang Jian, chooses to live next door to the First Emperor, since there are only two people in his family, too.

Li Shimin sees that a woman has suddenly appeared among his Tang dynasty descendants and furrows his brow, sensing that something is amiss.

When Zhao Kuangyin hears the neighbors mock his Song dynasty as the “Send Dynasty,” he gets so angry that he slaps Wanyan Gou... no, Zhao Gou.

Zhu Yuanzhang holds his precious grandson Zhu Yunwen and grumbles as he scolds his son Zhu Di for being unfilial.

In a fit of anger, Zhu Di sets up his own household and changes the nameplate by his front door to “judy.”

Watching these emperors, who can’t even give anyone peace after they’re dead, Xia Wu sighs. “Being a civil servant sure isn’t easy.”
