Coming soon: To Throw Oneself into the Furnace. Blurb below.
Chu Ci is seventeen, a happy little sniping genius, and currently works as an entertainment streamer for PUBG. His job means he talks a lot of trash.
"Their whole magazine can't match one shot from me."
"Win94 is a garbage gun? Fine, I'll win this round using two Win94s."
"Oh, there's a delivery up ahead. I'll go pick it up. What? That's a full squad of enemies? No, look, from front to back they're SF Express, ZTO Express, YTO Express, and Best Express. Out for delivery. There, they're boxes now. I'm going to collect my package."
The little genius never treats his opponents like people. But one day, he got humbled.
"Watch this play, everyone. Don't do what this guy did..." The little genius taunted at his usual leisurely pace while looting the other player's gear. Three rounds later, he nearly fell out of his chair.
"What???!!!"
This noob I sniped three times is my idol?!
The retired League of Legends pro, World Championship runner-up ADC, Tree, the Killing Tree, Jing Muyou???
My idol, whom I've been a fan of for five years straight?
The little genius was dumbstruck.
And even worse, his idol's first impression of him was: "Where'd this cheater come from? Get lost."
*Couple: a cheeky, shameless PUBG sniper genius on top x a past-his-prime retired League of Legends pro, a former professional player. Age gap, with the top younger.
Two games will feature in the story. Around the middle, Tree will become a professional PUBG player.
"We're all covered in scars, but we still keep moving forward."
To Throw Oneself into the Furnace
Couple: Tsundere heiress Xie Lang on top x Wang Rufeng, who endures humiliation, on the bottom
The Xie family is a swordsmanship clan that has fallen into decline over the past fifty years, ever since losing two swords. Xie Lang, the last posthumous child of the family, has been quiet and expressionless since birth, neither happy nor angry, looking almost like an idiot. He can't even wield a sword. But this year, he must restore the Xie family's reputation at the Fawen Heaven tournament.
Wang Rufeng has no connections, no power, no support, and no one but himself. This year, he must reach the top of the Tangting Hall at Fawen Heaven. And in a place where swordsmanship reigns supreme, he must not use a sword.
This year, at the Fa Dao Heaven tournament, they meet.
Sword and shield, raw iron and furnace, offense and defense, destruction and protection.
A swordsmith and his sword.
Everyone thinks Wang Rufeng should hate Xie Lang. Everyone thinks Wang Rufeng should get rid of him.
But Wang Rufeng only wants to protect him. He wants to protect the sword destined to be his, the finest sword he will ever forge, the one masterpiece of his life. Nothing more.
What does it take to forge a peerless sword unlike any other?
Sweat, tears, and finally, flesh and blood. Until he is unmatched in sharpness, until nothing can stand in his way, until my face is covered in dust, until I am covered in scars, until I plunge into the abyss and never return.
I throw myself into the furnace, and cut off both my arms.
"The Wang family keeps its word. A promise from the Wang family is worth a thousand gold. The Wang family only forges swords; we do not wield them."
"I, too, will never wield a sword again in this life."
"...But Xie Lang, for you, I will make an exception today."
"Master, for him, I will make an exception!"
A note on my return:
I think it's been years. I've been gone for a very, very long time. There's so much I want to say, and I don't know where to start. After thinking it over, I decided to use the blurb section of The Sniping God, my second child, to update my readers on what's been going on. Thank you, too, for all your love and support. It makes me very happy. Thank you.
A lot has happened in real life over the past few years, but for now, I've dealt with it. The sequel to The Sniping God was originally meant to be my next story. I began it with all sorts of hopes and dreams, but then real-life events hit, and I had to abandon it halfway through. Now it's hard to pick up where I left off, and I can't recapture many of the feelings and state of mind I had back then. Instead, I get pulled into painful emotions. So I've temporarily locked the companion story. I may continue it after I get myself back on track, or I may leave it as an unfinished dream, or a regret. I ask readers who love this series to forgive my weakness and avoidance.
At the same time, I've gained some new insights and experiences, and they've given me new ideas. After trying out many openings, searching for inspiration and figuring out how to write them, only to give up one by one, I've decided that my third child will be To Throw Oneself into the Furnace. It has a completely new setting, a completely new plot, and completely new protagonists. It's about one person finding a way to help another person achieve greatness. It definitely isn't perfect, but after writing it for a while, it's the story that makes me feel happiest and most at peace. So I've decided to keep writing it. If you like my style and the way I write, you can visit my profile and add To Throw Oneself into the Furnace to your reading list. It means a lot to me. Also, to everyone who was following the companion story, Family Support, I offer my heartfelt apologies once again.
I've really left you waiting for a long, long time, so any promises I make may sound hollow. But I hope I can prove myself through my actions. To Throw Oneself into the Furnace will have a satisfying ending, just like its two older siblings, and we can all witness that day together.
