I Regretted It After Ascending

After barely surviving more than a dozen thunder strikes, Shen Rongwang finally ascended.

Shen Rongwang took a look around, then said to the person receiving him, "Um, I've changed my mind. I'd rather go back and be a mortal..."

Immortals live forever, while mortals have only a few years. If he couldn't find the person he was looking for, then after another decade or so, at least he'd have no regrets.

"Find a mortal and take them through ascension. Then you can return to the mortal world."

Confused, Shen Rongwang went off to find a disciple.

The first: gave up right before ascending.

The second: eloped with a friend of his one second before ascending.

The third: couldn't overcome his inner demons during ascension and failed, vomiting blood.

The fourth: suddenly became disfigured during ascension and lost his confidence.

Finally, Shen Rongwang found a little kid and started raising him from childhood. He refused to believe the boy couldn't grow up handsome, graceful, intelligent, and charming.

Hmph.

In the end, the little kid did grow into exactly the kind of person Shen Rongwang wanted, but... something didn't seem quite right?

Fu Lang was once Shen Rongwang's closest friend.

Shen Rongwang had taken a blade for him, endured the thunder tribulation for him, and even... drunkenly revealed his feelings without meaning to.

"Fu Lang... I have feelings for you."

Fu Lang was shocked and didn't know how to face him, so he turned and left.

After that, he never saw Shen Rongwang again.

Not until a hundred years after his ascension, when a new immortal said to him, "I've changed my mind. I'd rather go back and be a mortal."

By then, Shen Rongwang clearly no longer recognized him.

But now Fu Lang was the one who regretted it.
