Lu Jin, a member of the protagonist group at Qidian, is framed by a coworker and transferred to the neighboring group for wicked side characters.
The character profile he receives reads: [Selfish and self-serving] [Foolish and vain] [Gloomy and cold-hearted] [Arrogant and merciless] [Greedy and jealous]. He must play out his assigned story and spend the rest of his life in misery to complete his task.
Lu Jin (sneering): How could I possibly be cannon fodder? Nobody’s going to make my life miserable.
After the mission.
Lu Jin (back aching): Damn it, why is everyone in this world gay?!
In the first world, Lu Jin is an overworked corporate drone exploited by his boss. He accidentally learns how to use hypnosis.
He hypnotizes his boss and gives orders with an air of superiority, but his intern catches him in the act.
With no other choice, he hypnotizes the intern, too.
But there seems to be something wrong with the hypnosis. Both of them are determined to get on top of him.
Lu Jin (covered in hickeys) (lighting a cigarette): Is there something wrong with this hypnosis?
In the second world, Lu Jin is a poor guy pretending to be rich. He sets a trap, uses his friend and childhood pal to make a fortune, then flees the city. But when he arrives at his new home, he finds them waiting at the door.
“If you were broke, you could’ve told me. Why did you lie to me?”
Lu Jin takes a step back and runs at once.
But no matter where he goes, they always manage to catch him.
In the third world, Lu Jin is a painter, and the protagonist is his boyfriend. Before long, the protagonist becomes famous and heartlessly breaks up with him.
After that, Lu Jin’s life goes downhill. He eventually racks up a huge debt and is forced to become a powerful man’s lover, until he runs into the protagonist at a banquet.
The protagonist offers to pay off his debt. Lu Jin is moved to tears, but the powerful man sneers, “You think he’s any good?”
At the time, Lu Jin doesn’t understand what he means.
In the fourth world, Lu Jin is a shameless straight man. When the rich protagonist confesses to him, he agrees at once.
But he artfully avoids any intimate contact every time.
At last he finds a chance to break up, gets himself a girlfriend through online dating, and is caught red-handed by the protagonist on the day they meet in person.
“He’s my little brother,” the protagonist says with a sneer, pointing at the “girlfriend.”
Lu Jin is stunned.
In the fifth world, Lu Jin is an arrogant, domineering rich kid. Jealous of the protagonist’s excellence, he steals his girlfriend, until the protagonist enters the family as the real young master and their positions are instantly reversed.
To protect himself, he has no choice but to turn to his two older brothers for help.
But the brothers, who are no longer his family, demand that he become their lover.
If he doesn’t want to be thrown out, he has to agree.
Until the protagonist pins him against the wall and tells him that if he wants to stay, he should be begging him instead.
I know you’re second-rate.
I know you use me, trample on me, look down on me, and abandon me.
I hate you,
and yet I love you,
more deeply
and longer
than I hate you.
