After graduating from high school, the male and female leads go their separate ways. He works at a dock, while she goes to college. They like each other, but he doesn't know how she feels. Differences in their circumstances, along with some misunderstandings, eventually drive them apart. He goes to the Philippines to seek his fortune and only returns eight years later.
They both work at the same company. He is a department manager, while she is an assistant to another manager. Around her, he never has any ambition, and he hates himself for it. After being apart for so many years, neither of them knows how the other feels.
Meanwhile, the second and third male leads around her, and the second and third female leads around him, leave their relationship with no clear boundaries.
As the new century dawns, she visits the temple where she made a wish ten years earlier on her birthday. There, she meets him.
