"What kind of person is Dai Mubai?" he suddenly asked in return.
"Hm?" She was confused.
He continued on his own:
"I asked the eldest prince. He said Dai Mubai was a coward, unworthy of being a warrior.
"I asked Tang Ting. He said Dai Mubai was a playboy, unfit to be emperor.
"I want to know... what do you think?"
She gazed deeply at him, the corners of her lips lifting into a faint smile.
It was the first time he'd seen her smile since they met.

So he smiled too, letting go as the boat drifted away with the waves.
