The Saltier the Fish, the Harder It Is to Quench Your Thirst

In her first month after moving to the old campus, Ji Xianrong smashed Miss Pumpkin, who had been with her for ten years. She sighed as she swept up the shards, then got a call from her father telling her to take out a loan for him. Ji Xianrong thought, I must be crazy to sign that shady loan agreement for this old man who's been brainwashed by a pyramid scheme. So she refused, and officially began her journey of self-reliance (conning people). Wei Ke's Q High School was right next to S University. The teachers' most repeated line after he enrolled was, "If you don't study hard now, you'll only end up at the school next door." As one of the country's digital universities, S University felt deeply wronged. When Wei Ke, a third-year high school student in the throes of teenage angst, met the lazy senior from neighboring S University. Wei Ke (folding his arms and sneering): "Hah... The school next door, where you can get in through a recommendation." Ji Xianrong: "...Could you wipe that disdainful look off your face, student? Now get out your English paper, and let's take a look at this cloze passage." A lazy senior who works odd jobs everywhere (and cons people on the side) to keep her monthly living expenses under 300 yuan * a third-year high school boy in his angsty phase, who folds his arms and sneers every day at the big red-lettered slogans on white backgrounds overhead. The story begins when our hard-up, beleaguered lazy senior covets some cheap knockoff goods and burns her own pen, notebook, and motherboard... P.S. 1. No romance while we're in our final year of high school! 2. The female lead really is poor. Very poor. Extremely poor. 3. The male lead is a late-blooming, edgy philosopher, an angsty high school senior. 4. Older woman-younger man romance. Don't read if that's not your thing. Theme:
