Trying to Ascend to Immortality

[I still haven't figured out the outline for this story, and I'm stuck, so updates are on hold. Be cautious about starting it.]

Yin Yu is a nine-lives cat demon with fluffy fur and pink paws. Many years ago, he went into seclusion to cultivate and prepare for ascension, but the tribulation never came, no matter how long he waited. Instead, he received a strange package.

He licked his paws and carefully opened it. Inside was a notice: "2019 Heavenly Court Civil Service Recruitment Announcement."

Yin Yu: Meow meow meow?

Only later did he learn that the Immortal Realm had adopted the advanced practices of the human world: to become an immortal, you had to pass the civil service exam. Everyone had to take it, and the process was fair and impartial.

There was nothing he could do but apply for a random position. Then he discovered, to his delight (and horror), that the chief examiner for the qualification test was his ex-boyfriend.

His ex-boyfriend, Lord Qinglong Xie Yin, whom he'd stood up for hundreds of years, was still tall, handsome, powerful, and influential. But his possessiveness and controlling nature... seemed even stronger now.

Xie Yin: Drop the "ex." We never broke up. :)

As it turned out, Yin Yu didn't get to ascend to immortality. Xie Yin caught him and took him home first. This time, no matter what, he wouldn't get away.

[A little scene from many years ago]

The first time Yin Yu came to the Qinglong Palace, the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan brought him there to be fostered. Rumors claimed that this precious little nine-tailed cat demon had been raised by the foxes from a young age, spoiled into a delicate, bewitching little thing that no ordinary person could handle.

After hearing this, Xie Yin snorted and told everyone that the Qinglong Palace was always strict, and they had no such custom of spoiling the little ones.

Six months later, the Fox Clan leader emerged from seclusion and went straight to the Qinglong Palace to retrieve the cat. There, he saw Xie Yin stroking the fluffy white ball curled up on the carpet, coaxing him: "Be good, baby. This really is the last time I'm squeezing your paws today. Really..."

A kind, adorable, clingy, cuddly shou who meows and acts cute but is fiercely mean x a controlling, cat-obsessed, devoted seme. A lighthearted, sweet story.
